Wilty Transplants

This morning I went out to check the damage from last night's freeze.  The temperature had gotten into the twenties, so I was rather nervous.  Fortunately, the canterbury bells that I was so worried about stayed safe inside their winter sowing container, which means there was no strong wind.  Yay!

I checked my lettuce, spinach, carrot, and onion seedlings, and they were still happily growing within their half jug environments.  There wasn't even a hint of cold damage!

Then I went up to the hill in the backyard.

I went up to my two tiered garden only to discover that while the violets I had transplanted were still doing fine, the hosta transplants were decidedly wilty.

If you look at the leaf on the right, you'll notice a telltale sign of cold damage.  The leaf is folded over.  It should actually be reaching up to the sky.  This isn't particularly bad wilting, so I think it will survive just fine as long as no additional damage occurs.

The problem, though, is that there is supposed to be another freeze tonight.  Ugh.  I'm not going to worry about my seedlings, nestled in their plastic containers, but I'm concerned about this hosta transplant.

These little guys are pretty tough, though, so I figure it'll probably have a chance.  Keep those fingers crossed for me!
